Welcome to Enjoythesewing!

My name is Stephanie Green. I’m a 32-year-old Mississippi mom with young children and a passion for sewing. I fell in love with sewing eight years ago after stumbling on Etsy and being fascinated by seeing all the creative projects hobbyists were able to make in their spare time. I think part of my interest is that sewing seemed like such an old-fashioned activity, and yet so many young people enjoyed it.

As I dived deeper, including buying my first sewing machine, I discovered many joys in the sewing arts. From choosing patterns and fabrics to the meditative and pleasurable experience of sewing away on a new design, I began to really appreciate the time I spent on this hobby. Sewing is a very versatile creative outlet that can be whatever you want it to be. Whether you’re interested in making one-of-a-kind outfits or quilting gifts for family members, there’s a wealth of options. As my skills improved, I learned the satisfaction of finishing a piece and seeing my initial vision coming to life. I now have three sewing machines and even sell my own handmade creations.

I’ve learned so much along the way, and I created this space to share valuable information with other sewing enthusiasts. Whether you’re new to this craft or an expert hand, having the right sewing machine is essential for making the most of your sewing time. I aspire for this blog to have the kind of detailed and useful reviews I would want to read myself as a consumer.

How I Create Content

For me, blogging is truly a pleasure and an outlet where I can share my love of sewing with like-minded people. But I don’t do it all by myself. I get writing support from freelance writers that work on assignments for me. I plan and edit all the content, and I maintain my own voice throughout the blog. My inspiration for this blog is not only my own sewing life and the products that interest me as I work but also the trends I notice with other sewing enthusiasts. I want to contribute the most useful information possible to help people improve and enjoy their sewing.

With that goal in mind of providing the most valuable content, I try as much as possible to get hands-on experience with every sewing machine and sewing accessory featured on the blog. If it’s not possible to rent the machine or to get in some quality sewing time another way, I rely on in-depth online research to produce a comprehensive review. I also really enjoy spending time in local sewing-related stores and talking to the staff. They’ve seen it all and are an invaluable resource for knowledge about the products I review.

Why You Should Read My Blog

The internet has been a fantastic tool for finding information that helped my sewing advance over the years. The enthusiasm, creativity, and industriousness of the sewing community is really something to behold. I enjoy doing my part to contribute interesting and useful content that will help other sewing enthusiasts to pursue their craft. This blog will provide insights on many different types of sewing machines and helpful guidance on how to evaluate sewing machines overall. I will also feature sewing accessories and techniques that can help make a difference in your sewing. In this craft, there’s so much to learn and so many ways of putting it into practice. For example, you might use different techniques depending on the project, the fabric, and even the machine.

For so many of us, discussing various elements of sewing becomes an extension of the pleasure we take in sewing itself. I aspire for readers to learn, be entertained, and gain tips and tricks they can take with them when they sit down at the sewing machine. Please post a comment or drop me an email if you have any feedback. Happy sewing!
